There are so many opportunities to engage in science exploration at the Omaha Children’s Museum.
First, check out one of our science shows. This summer we are presenting The Amazing Bubble Show and a new one, Dinosaur Grossology, where we explain that everyone poops and farts, even dinosaurs! Our shows are fast-paced and fun for everyone. That excitement during an experiment could spark a child’s interest in a field of science.
We facilitate other programs during the day, such as Curiosity Lab, where children become the scientists. They can don a lab coats and safety glasses, and go through parts of the scientific method. They observe, make predictions or hypotheses, and then test them using the tools of a scientist. Some of our concepts this summer are magnetic force, buoyancy, states of matter, and simple machines. Our program presenters ask open –ended questions to spark curiosity.
Our summer exhibit, Dino Safari, incorporates animatronic dinosaurs, as well as a menagerie of live creatures such as a bearded dragon and fire-bellied toads. Baby chicks will even be hatching all summer! Making observations, comparing and contrasting, and gathering information about the different animals are great ways to inspire a budding scientist.

Our Science Center is the place to be immersed in science. Junior scientists can go on a hunt for simple machines. They could see how many pulleys are in the room. They can see how the balls travel on their path. Is it gravity? Is it air pressure? They think they are just having fun, but they are learning at the same time.
We hope you can join us this summer for a super, scientific exploration at the Omaha Children’s Museum!
