Halloween is going to be here before we know it! Let’s get creative this year and make our own costumes. Yes, even you non-crafty type can create a homemade masterpiece that will be sure to impress your little ones, friends and family! First up, the adorable little people from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Oompa Loompas!
This costume is so easy your little one will be bobbing up and down singing “oompa-loompa-doopity-do” in less than an hour. All you need is:
- a pair of white pants
- a brown turtle neck
- brown and white striped socks
- white gloves
- a white belt, ribbon, or scarf
- green hair spray
- 2 big brown buttons
- face paint
First, cut the top 2-4 inches off your long brown and white striped socks. Then have your little one put their white pants, turtle neck and shorter socks on, Take the brown and white fabric you cut from the socks and wrap it around their wrists and loosely around their neck. Then take the white belt/ribbon/scarf and make suspenders crossing in front and back. You can attach the suspenders with safety pins or if you really want to get crafty, use a sewing machine. Once the suspenders are attached, glue on the big brown buttons with a glue gun or fabric glue. Style their hair using the green hair spray, the bigger the better! Smear a little orange face paint on their face, and they are ready to clean up the messes those naughty kids in Charlie’s factory are making!
