Materials you need:
- 6″x9″ cut fabric
- 5″x7″ cut fabric
- 2″x4″ cut fabric
- 2.5″x14″ cut fabric for neck strap
- Crayola Fabric Markers
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- velcro
Take the fabric of your choice and cut four different pieces measuring 6″x9″, 5″x7″, 2″x4″, and 2.5″x14″. Decided what pattern you want to draw on your bowtie; I chose to do a lemon pattern for the bow and then stripes for the middle. You only have to cover the middle portion of the fabric because it will be folded. Take the largest piece of fabric, fold both fabric ends to meet in the middle and glue. Then fold the ends that haven’t been folded to meet in the middle also. Repeat those steps with the 5″x7″ piece of fabric that you drew a pattern on.
Take your 2″x4″ piece of fabric and fold the long ends to meet in the middle and glue (now 1″x4″). Then lay your patterned fabric rectangles on top of each other and pitch them to create the center of the bowtie. Wrap the 1″x4″ piece of fabric around the pitched bowtie and glue on the back to secure.
Take your neck strap, fold in half and thread it through the center of the bowtie. You can glue velcro to the ends of the neck strap to secure it. If you want, you could always glue a bobby pin to the bow and use it in your hair! So many possibilities!
